Data migration validation: curved wooden desks in a university lecture hall

Validation: scope, mapping, pricing and the reports that prove them

What every data migration load is checked for, and the sign-off that precedes any go-live decision.

Each migration we run is validated in layers, from record counts to client sign-off, to prove that the data is complete, accurate and fit for the business before any go-live decision. Each check is documented with preconditions, steps and expected results, so that a tester without knowledge of the migration can execute it and a reviewer can see what was tested. The data quality principles behind it are introduced in Trailhead's data quality module.

Validation reports and sign-off

Every load produces validation reports for the business to review, generated from stored results rather than assembled by hand. For contracts and subscriptions, the client also receives an ARR summary. A sign-off sheet is provided for client review before any go-live decision, and no go-live decision is supported in its absence.

Assess the data before the agents depend upon it

The first call is with the practitioners who would do the work, not a sales intermediary. The measures come first and the estimate follows.
